Night lights in Scotch 80's, and a new camera

My brother the photographer sent me a new camera which isn't just a point and shoot digital. It's like the SLR's people used to use with film, but it's still digital. Very technogeek complicated, but I tried to do a night shoot. Tomorrow, I'll read the directions, do a crash course on apertures and shutter speeds, and tripods, and try again.

Of all the shots I took of the beautifully lit homes in the stunning neighborhood of Scotch 80's, this is the only one that wasn't blurry, or blank or blinding.
I think that it's just a coincidence, but I sold this home to the current owners 5 years ago. In fact, even though I OWNED and LIVED IN a "mid-century modern" home, they were the first people I ever heard use the term. They moved here from San Diego, and the Mid-Mod preservation movement was already in full swing there. It's only just getting going in Las Vegas.
They've promised me that VVV will get the scoop, so I can shoot the interior and rear yard for you next week. More to come.
