Glen Heather is as Green as can be!

A little before Scotch 80's came another neighborhood at the South East corner of Oakey and Rancho. It was called Glen Heather. There's a big mix of styles, but the most impressive thing is the number and size of the trees. Huge Evergreens abound, as well as lots of Mulberry, Olive and of course Palms of every type.

The earliest homes of the 204 total were built in 1955 and 1956, and 1959. They were hard core mid-mod! I'm not sure what happened that no homes were built for 3 years, then group of 1959's and then they started up again in 1962 and 1963 to finish out then neighborhood. There seems to be a gap of a few years until 1961 and 62, when we started to see some Cinderella Ranches, and some regular ranches, In the 70's and 80's we started to get the assorted add-ons, expansions, conversions and other things people have done over the years, just as in most of the Vintage Vegas Neighborhoods.

Always, they been considered the little brother of McNeil and the nearby distant nephew of the Scotch 80's. A few of the homes are severely noise challenged by the adjacent I-15, but most of the homes are as peaceful as you'd hope.

Our friend Liz Thompson from Desert Realty has a probate sale FIXER UPPER, that is the lowest price home I've seen in GH in years. It's 260,000 for a 4/2/2 with 1762 sf. It's seriously "cosmetically challenged" but certainly fixable with out getting upside down in a neighborhood that usually starts at 300k for smaller homes. I had it as the "dump of the week at 299,000 before they dropped the price so severely.

Now it's the Deal of the week.

The Highest priced sale this last year, out of 10 sales was 419,000. Currently there are 13 on the market, There's one home under contract. The price spread for the currently available listings is 260k to 569k.

Jack,

I was going to wait until Wednesday when I am out there with you to ask, but I couldn't wait.

Now, maybe it's just me being from the East Coast... But, why is it that so many homes in Las Vegas are complimented with a Winnebago or motor home of sorts?

Well, that's part of the beauty of Vintage Vegas. We actually can have
a motorhome, a boat or even an extra car parked as long as it is on pavement. In some of the new neighborhoods (Summerlin, etc.) you
can't even have one car parked outside of the garage. Everything is very restrictive. I like to be
free to choose and I'm sure storage
is quite expensive. MJ
