The last of the lunch counters

One of the icon businesses in Vintage Vegas is the White Cross Drug Store at the corner of Oakey and Las Vegas Blvd. And inside WC is Tiffiny's diner! It's the last of the old fashioned lunch counters with exposed grills that I know of.

It's a fun little trip down memory lane, as you can stop in 24 hours a day and grab a hamburger or a couple of eggs, or just read the paper and drink some coffee. Little has changed in the 20 years I've been hanging out downtown, and stopping in for middle of the night cold remedies or a late night burger.

The Italian American Club

One of the Icons of Vintage Vegas is the Italian American Club. It's a restaurant, and banquet hall, and bar, and hangout. They say in it's day it was quite the place.

We visited it last night for a going away party for some friends. It's the beigest place I've ever seen, and it's certainly showing its age. Located on Sahara a 1/2 block east of Eastern, it's definately worth a drive into the parking lot if not a table cloth dining experience.

The photos of past presidents go back to the early 60's. They're a real treat in themselves. Check it out sometime.

Some of the gossip I heard: The 5000 foot 2 story at the end of MARIE ELAINA Circle will be for rent soon. About 3500. a month. It's on craigslist, but will be in the MLS shortly. If you know someone interested in living on one of the most CLASSIC streets of all of Vintage Vegas, this might be a rare opportunity.

Luv-in it Late Night

Did you know about one of the Icon business in the heart of Vintage Vegas? Luv-it frozen custard is a family owned shop on Oakey Ave. and Las Vegas Blvd. It's been there FOREVER, and based on the line at the window every night, it'll be around forever more.

We stopped in Saturday Night after seeing the Simpson's Movie (spider pig... spider pig... yes we're still singing it in our head).

We always run into people we know, or have a chance to meet some neighbors. It's as much a social thing to go get in line as it is a dessert thing. Check it out sometime.
