It all started here...

Nation and Son Antiques in Kelso WA. (about 35min North of Portland OR.) Is responsible for my collecting habits. I grew up in my Mom's antique store and I caught the disease. When I turned 18 and moved away from home, I said " I don't want your OLD junk, I'm buying new furniture!" We all know that didn't last long, having the keys to the store, I would sneak in a take a few of my favorite pieces until I had nothing new left. Now we go to auctions and outbid each other.

My mom has been in the Antique business for about 30 years. She just expanded her store to almost 5,000 sf. I am am Very proud of her. Owning a business with your Mom/Best friend is a blast. I only wish she lived closer. She visits on buying trips to Vintage Vegas many times a year. After all what is Nation and Son, without the Son?

Check out Nation and Son Antiques if you are ever in the Northwest. Feel free to call and inquire, because we ship back and forth all the time.

"Your money is no good here"

Out and About on Fremont St. I don't know why this bothers me, but I attended a friend's Birthday dinner at Julia's restaurant on Fremont and Las Vegas Blvd. When we had finished eating I took the check and put some money down. The waitress took the money and the check. When she returned, the waitress informed me that they no longer accepts $100 bills. I was floored. I have had my credit card denied on many occasions ( I am sad to admit) but, My $100 bill was denied!!!! The best part of Vintage Vegas is that you can still gamble with money. I love the sound of coins falling out of a slot, but if you want to eat FORGET IT, Your money is no good here.

What A Vintage Vegas Find!!

Check out this Souvenir from my collection. It sure beats a t-shirt. The lady I acquired this from bought it here in the 60's and had it on her kitchen wall until last year. She said it was responsible for her messy kitchen and for many trips to Vegas over the last forty years.
If you have anymore souvenirs I should post, let me know. bennation@yahoo.com

ATTN: Wild Animal loose in McNeil

Wild bull attacks Local home!
Residents say the animal is stable at this point and a capture should be easy, but the home owner "Enjoys the beast in his front yard and has no plans of having it removed" Check out this McNeil Yard, and while your at it find all the hidden pockets where Vegas keeps its treasures.
More from UncleJack: (click on the picture to see the great detail) McNeil is the a huge pocket of custom homes Between Charleston and Oakey, west of Rancho. Mostly they were built by Vegas's middle class in the 1960's. Today it's a prized neighborhood of truly classic Vintage Vegas.

Landscaping Can still be VERY Vintage

I've done it!!! spent months with the gardener seeking out some rock and plants that would respect the era of my home. In Paradise Palms one landscape option was a crushed marble, (back in those days it didn't cost thousands of dollars) We have found a white rock out of California that fits the bill. Throw in a couple of interesting shrubs......and you have got an budget friendly Vintage backyard. Finished photos soon.

The Avenue- By WOLFSON

I Couldn't be happier about the Avenue project. These mid rise lofts are in a great location and they have every amenity that anybody could desire. I am impressed with the designer Ken Wolfson. This man has left no stone unturned and considered every detail of his design. Mr. Wolfson is a man who "GETS IT" and I am glad to see his vision developing. Be one of the LUCKY FIVE people who can reside at the Avenue, better check out wolfsonlofts.com.
